Coach Sam focusses on *holistic resilience*.
Resilience is often seen as "toughness" in the face of hard times, and "bouncebackability" (yes, that is a real English word). But to be tough, one has to do a few things beforehand - "A stitch in time saves nine" as the wise saying goes. This includes steps to AVOID troubles in the first place, as well as PREPARING for what one would do when difficult situations arise.
This is where holistic resilience comes in. The main pillars of resilience that we explore with clients are:
(1) Physical Resilience - taking ideal care of our body (our greatest asset), in the time we have
(2) Mental Resilience - optimising our thoughts and mental habits
(3) Emotional Resilience - what makes us feel great, and what can 'trigger' us
(4) Inter-personal Resilience - the strength of our network of friends and family as a support system when we need them (or when they need us)
(5) Financial Resilience - the cause of worry and problems for many people. Doing a few things right early enough & avoiding costly mistakes can save the day. In this case, "knowledge is POWER".
(6) Technological Resilience - leveraging the advancements in communication tools, information processing, and artificial intelligence that are sweeping our world, altering jobs and our very lives every few years.
We use tools such as our bespoke Resilience Quiz to arrive at each client's RQ (resilience quotient) along with methodologies such as Appreciative Inquiry, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), strengths- & values-based life goal prioritisation so that a beautiful state of ALIGNMENT (harmony) can be achieved.
Coach Sam’s uniquely qualified to cover this vital topic because of his unusual life story, aptitude, perspective, and varied background. This includes many years in wealth management, fintech, training, coaching, teaching yoga, and coaching inmates in Singapore Prison in dealing with afflictions like anger and addictions. This exposure help greatly in discovering ideas, questions, and solutions for Sam's clients.
We help our clients create their own checklists that easy to remember & apply.
We also discuss the 12 major lessons learned from years of counselling prison inmates - what we can do to avoid or cope with hard times.
Our ultimate aim is for our clients to be the most EMPOWERED versions of themselves, being able to achieve more with less (risk, cost, sacrifice, effort, will-power - because those are indeed very finite for most of us).
We take clients through a journey of identifying the best, most required, and most doable actions or changes (clearly articulating them with a very solid WHY, i.e. reasons to do them), and then gradually see them fulfill what they have agreed to do - celebrating each step along the way.
